MEETING MINUTES
June Meeting
June 18, 2000, 11:14 a.m: The meeting of the Southern Welsh Pony and Cob Association, with 14 adult members and 3 Junior members in attendance, was called to order by President Brenda Heberling.
The minutes of the April meeting were read and approved.
The long version of the May meeting minutes were read, corrected and approved.
The treasurer’s report was given by Mike Smith. The bank accounts have now been consolidated and the Association has $1,369.11 in the account.
It was suggested that future treasure reports include a notation as to the amount of money in the scholarship fund.
Old Business:
Molly Cobb gave a report on the June 25th Fun Show. The High Point awards will be gift certificates, along with a gift package of Nabisco cookies. The cookies will be donated by Nabisco and Mel Starr. The Judge will be Robin Hudson. She has agreed to judge the show for free, and in exchange for her services the club agreed to give her a gift certificate from one of the restaurants. Ribbons have been ordered. They will be given for 1st - 4th place. They are going to be single streamers with the club name, without a date or the name of the show. This was done so that the ribbons may be used for other awards at other occasions.
There was a question as to the price that was quoted for the use of Southern Show place for the June 25th show. Brenda will check with Kenny Ray on this and see if the price was $100 or $200.
Celia suggested speaking to Denna Johnson about having future fun shows at Full Partners. Denna has many students that use school horses and ponies and are unable to haul for fun show. This will be checked into after the June 25th show.
Other old Business:
Brenda had spoken to Nancy Carr about our working with their pony show in central Florida. They are having a show the day before our October show so this time will not work out.
We discussed to possibility of having some Welsh classes at their shows on a regular basis in the future. We will see if this can be arranged and if we would have enough lead time to have the classes bronze rated.
Meeting dates and places of the meetings were discussed. If some of the meetings were held in the Central part of the state (Orlando, Tampa, Leesburg areas) the long drive would not always be by the same people. The August meeting will be held in Leesburg with Doris Codding hosting.
New Business:
Brenda Heberling and Barbara Lender gave the report on the October Show. The judge will be Heddy Ables. The class list is finished and will be available on our web site. It was decided the entry fees would be $5.00 per class for SWA member and $7.00 for non-members. There will be limited stall space. The stalls will be $15.00 per day. This charge will be divided with $10.00 going to Kenny Ray and $5.00 coming to the club. Stalls will be available on a first come, first serve basis (this being with payment). For people entering the show after the dead line there will be a $10.00 late fee per pony.
The deadline will be noted on the prize list and on our web site.
Mike Smith explained that with our web site, entries could be done by e-mail, with payment being taken by credit card. This was discussed and decided that we would try this with a processing charge of $5.00 added to cover the cost.
The State Fair committee has agreed to have a Welsh show in conjunction with the Fair in February. The dates will be February 7th, and 8th , they are applying for gold rating. It was emphasized how important it is for the group to support this show if we would like to be a part of the State Fair in the future.
The next order of business was the election of officers:
Our officers for the 2000 - 2001 year will be:
Molly Cobb - President
Bill Black - Vice President
Barbara Lender - Recording Secretary
Celia Evans - Corresponding Secretary
Helen Miller - Historian
Sara Marshall - Jr. Representative

Other new business:

The Scholarship Raffle was held, adding $34.00 to the fund. The prize was a full cheek snaffle bit, which was won by Jo Ann Wilson.
It was decided the July meeting will be held at Dragon's Lair July 16th, at 11:00 a.m. This meeting will be a covered dish lunch.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 12:34 p.m.

Note From the President
I would like to thank last years officers for directing our organization through a successful first year. It takes a great effort and a lot of determination to get an organization like our off the ground.
I look forward to serving as President in the coming year. I hope to be instrumental in expanding our membership, developing a youth program and encouraging member participation.
